Critec consult personnel have extensive Access Control consultancy experience, having completed numerous successful commission on large Access Control projects.

Access Control evaluation and design has its own specific challenges.

Consideration  must be given to the method of personal verification be it proximity cards, keypads or biometrics. Factors such as the creation of areas and timed access parameters, , multi-tenancy buildings, locking systems and emergency egress facilities,  muster, guard tours, hosting, emergency head counting and reporting/editing facilities must also be considered.

Physical measures to control access such as turnstiles, speed gates, barriers, road blockers, locks and doors also require detailed consideration.

All these measures need to be viewed with regard to do the implications of Fire regulations and the Disabilities Discrimination act.

 

 

 

 

 

      

Access Control projects undertaken by Critec personnel include:

  • US Pharmaceutical Corporation – UK research headquarters. Design of integrated CCTV/intruder/Access control system to replace existing system, whilst maximizing use of retained field equipment and cabling. Relocation of control systems with minimal downtime and contingency provision. Full consultancy for replacement of central control and for extension of system for new building construction involving specification production and client engineering representation. The system represents the largest single site integrated security system in the UK, comprising over 100 cameras, 500 access readers, 8000 card users and 5000 intruder detectors.

  • Nuclear power stations – UK. Project management for integrated access control upgrade projects at a number of Nuclear power stations.
  • Europe – Telecomm hanger network. Full design and project management for digital CCTV, Intruder detection and access control system employing biometric access control and digital CCTV recording networked between sites across Europe, to permit all cameras to be viewed on any sites using client internet backbone.
  • US Pharmaceutical Corporation – European headquarters: Full design consultancy including risk and threat assessment, production of contract specification and contractor management for integrated CCTV, Intruder, Perimeter, Access system, including specification of bespoke access control software link to client corporate HR database, design of all containment, cable and system facilities to stringent architectural restrictions.
