Critec Building and Perimeter Detection consultancy

Critec consult personnel have extensive Building and Perimeter Intruder Detection consultancy experience, having completed numerous successful commission on large integrated systems projects involving extensive IDS and PIDS sub systems.

IDS and PIDS evaluation and design has its own specific challenges.

Intruder Detection (IDS) - The environment parameters of the area to be protected are paramount in determining the correct detection device to meet the protection requirements. Selection should be based on the anticipated intrusion pattern which will include speed, size  and direction of intrusion,  the ambient temperature, detection range and the requirement for stealth detection or visible deterrence.  In addition the method of communicating and annunciating the intrusion must be considered, and the audit trail facilities, speed of response and required operator functions must also be evaluated.

Perimeter Intruder Detection (PIDS) - The considerations for perimeter detection are similar to those for internal detection but with even greater emphasis on environmental stability, immunity to natural physical influences and target acquisition. The skill is to match the detection parameters of any particular device to the deployed environment whilst maintaining immunity from the particular nuisance alarm influences in the locale. 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

Intruder detection projects undertaken by Critec personnel include:

  • Atomic weapons research establishment - UK: Project management and application system design for site comprising three interlinked perimeter CCTV and intruder detection systems. 
  • VIP residences – UK. Full design and management consultancy for intruder detection and physical protection measures to corporate VIP residences.
  • Military - UK: Project engineering and application system design for large perimeter detection and CCTV management system employing over 200 cameras and 7km of detection fence.
  • Europe – Various establishments for VIP. Design and project management of integrated systems for various VIP residential and commercial establishments in Europe, involving the provision of CCTV, intruder detection and access control provision on multiple sites linked via telecommunications paths and digital wire free networks to a central monitoring facility. Highly specialised solutions were developed to fit in with architectural restrictions in listed properties.
  • Europe – Telecomm hanger network. Full design and project management for digital CCTV, Intruder detection and access control system employing biometric access control and digital CCTV recording networked between sites across Europe, to permit all cameras to be viewed on any sites using client internet backbone.
